OPEN FROM JUNE TO SEPTEMBER
The Refuge
Lambertenghi-Romanin refuge is situated on the Volaia mountain pass on the Austrian border.
It s not far from the small blue alpine lake Volaia and the steep slopes of mount Coglians and mount Capolago.
The refuge provides sleeping accomodation for 100 people, a bathroom on each floor, a shower, a large dining room with 140 seats, a living room with a fireplace and a selection of videos, a snack bar, typical food and a public telephone.
It has been recently rebuilt according to safety norms.
The area, which is also rich in fossils, is growing as an equipped climbing area. Many new routes have been established in recent years, giving the climbers the opportunity to try new routes (the guardian of the refuge can provide the climbers with drill and bolts to open new routes)
History: The Lambertenghi-Romanin refuge was opened in 1935 thanks to Antonio Del Regno, the guardian of a nearby rest stop who rebuilt a military building dating back to World War I.
It was dedicated to the memory of the lieutenants Lambertenghi (who died in June 1915 during a military operation on the Volaia pass) and Romanin.
The building was bought by the Forni Avoltri municipality at the end of the 1970s and was then rebuilt and enlarged. The new refuge opened on 26th September 1982.
